A Beautiful Destination
Everyone loves to holiday, be it a child or an adult. A vacation rejuvenates our senses and helps us see life from a fresh perspective. It lets us forget our worries and get away from the humdrum of life. And if the holiday destination is good, it just adds to the overall experience. There are plenty of amazing holiday destinations in the world and each one of them offers a unique experience of their own.

One of the amazing holiday destinations is Spain. Spain is as beautiful as Spanish people themselves are. The azure beaches, the pollution free environment, the cobbled streets and the rich history of the place attracts people from far and wide every year.

Package Holidays to Spain - Benidorm, Ibiza and Mallorca to name a few
There are many places to visit and experience in Spain which includes the quintessential Ibiza, Benidorm and many others. In fact, holidays to Spain are not complete without exploring Benidorm.

However, to be able to experience the beauty and charm of Spain, one needs moolah. After all, a vacation does not come for free. But a vacation can sure come at subsidized rates. And that is precisely what you get with holiday packages to Spain.
There are a lot of online travel portals which offer some amazing holiday packages to Spain. There are many advantages of opting for packages to Spain rather than booking and traveling on your own.

Advantages of Package Holidays to Spain
The first advantage you get is that of accommodation. The travel portals have an arrangement with many properties and these properties give them special rates in order to attract the maximum clients. However, these special rates are not for direct customers. Therefore, it makes sense to go through travel portals rather than doing it yourself.

The second advantage you get with opting for holiday packages to Spain is the easy availability of meals. Most packages come included with meals which, again, you will be getting at discounted rates. Therefore, you not only get food at cheaper rates but also get it easily. After all, finding food in a foreign land is not always an easy task.

However, there may be a number of choices while selecting holiday packages to Spain but every deal is not worth it. While selecting a particular package, you must be careful that you are not being conned.

Always make it a point to get quotes from at least three to four different portals and then compare them. While comparing, pay attention the fact that you are comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges.

Also, always keep in mind that bulk booking and timely booking is always cheaper. So, if you are booking two months in advance, you will get a better rate than you would if you book 15 days in advance. Also, if you are booking a package for 15 people, it would much cheaper than a package for 5 people. But the portals would never always mention that. And that is where your bargaining skills come into picture.

Make sure you have done enough research before booking your holidays to Spain or for that matter, anywhere in the world. After all, it is a question of your hard earned cash, isn't it?

Nowadays Turkey has lavish seaside resorts, luxurious hotels and loads of fancy attractions for visitors. However, you do not have to bind yourself to an expensive holiday if that is too much for your budget. You can still go cheap and then boast with numerous incredible memories from your Turkish holiday.

Here are some useful tips when it comes to saving money during your travel and maximizing the experience.

Take a Boat Trip
When in Turkey, you may want to include as much as possible in your itinerary. The problem is that transportation will eventually get to cost you quite a lot. A better idea would be to hire a boat for several days and enjoy everything this sunny region has to offer. This will not only save you money, but will also offer the chance to enjoy a memorable experience.

Practice Negotiating Skills
You haven't been to Turkey if you haven't visited a traditional Turkish bazaar. Shopping there will entertain you, besides enchanting your eyes with the varied and exotic merchandise. Bargaining is a common practice in such places and some negotiating skills come in handy for tourists. If you don't want to risk paying too much for something - and you will find a lot of worthy souvenirs - better learn to have the courage to negotiate the price.

Visit Istanbul
Even though it is one of the heavily touristic spots of the country (and, from this point of view, a lot better ranked than Ankara, the capital city), Istanbul has so much to offer. It has the remnants of the Byzantine and Ottoman civilizations, it is packed with old and new buildings and provides some of the best views in the world. The Bosphorus view alone is something you will never forget. Because you will have so many attractions in one area, you will not be spending much for moving around.

Visiting Religious Monuments
Turkey puts on display a plethora of cathedral, mosques and other religious architectural gems. Tourists are always attracted to visiting these. You can include many of these in your tour and still enjoy a cheap holiday. Such places will reveal so much of the Oriental taste in art and the ancient cultural layers. If you have only brief clothing, you will not be allowed to enter such landmarks. Take some decent clothes with you that cover the body. It would be a shame to miss the splendor of such monuments.

If you are thinking about going on one of the Danube river cruises for vacation it is important to know how to pack. Things you need to consider include the weather, ship requirements, and room for souvenirs. Danube river cruises offer many things to do and see but if you pack wrong you might find yourself needing to spend vacation money on needs.

Danube river cruising takes place during the warmer months of the year. You should pack light clothes for warm weather. Packing light means light pants and light shirts. You don't want to be overdressed for this vacation. The days will be warm. The evenings may cool down a little so it is important to bring a light sweater in case you get cold. Another thing to consider when you are packing your clothes is comfortable shoes.

Many people bring flip flops because they are going on Danube river cruises thinking they will be sitting on the deck viewing the scenery the whole time. This is not the case. You should bring a pair of good walking shoes because you will depart the ship and want to walk around the port cities. Without comfortable shoes you could be miserable.

Even the 3 day cruises have formal or dress dinners you should be prepared for. When you pack for a cruise on the river it is fine to pack mostly for comfort and casual wear. However, in the evenings on the ship you might attend a captain's or manager's dinner. This dining experience doesn't require you to dress nice but you should.

Some cruises have a formal dinner which requires the passengers to wear a tuxedo or formal gown. Make sure you are aware of any dress requirements for special occasions on the ship. If you plan on attending an event like an opera in a foreign country, you will need to bring the right attire.

It is also a good idea to consider the different places you are going to travel to along the cruise and all of the people you might be bringing souvenirs back to. If you are bringing souvenirs home for people you need to be sure to have plenty of room in your suitcase. Don't over pack your suitcase and not have room for souvenirs. Danube river cruises have shops on the ship and there will be plenty of opportunities to shop at each of the ports. If you don't have room in your suitcase then you will have a miserable trip home carrying all of the bags with you through the airports and on the planes.

In addition, some airlines may choose to charge you fees for additional carry-on luggage or if you need to check in another bag. You might want to do a comparison and see which suitcase is the best for your trip. You don't need to pack a lot of clothing when you take a 3 day cruise.

When you are packing for Danube river cruises it is important to pack light clothing for warm weather that is comfortable. Don't forget to bring a comfortable pair of walking shoes for excursions and possibly a dressy outfit. Always check any dress code requirements and leave enough room in the suitcase for shopping.

To understand camping in France, one first has to look at some of the differences between the UK and France culturally. A large number of people in the UK do have home holidays, or to use the more recent term, staycations. However, most people do prefer to travel abroad and holidays in sunnier climes such as Spain are the most popular. This is not to say that the weather in the UK is inclement, but as recent summers and winters would testify, it is certainly unpredictable.

By contrast, in France the percentage of people who holiday within France is much higher. Perhaps this is because they have a warmer climate and as such do not yearn for two weeks of lying in the sun. Another possibility is that there is a deeper, cultural difference.

So what type of holiday is the preferred choice in France? Well it may come as a surprise but camping is highly regarded in France and is almost an institution. For a few weeks in the summer, the French people en masse go to the country or coast and enjoy the delights of the Plein air. This has lead to a large number of camping sites throughout France, from Brittany in the North West to the Cote d'Azur in the South. Other popular areas include the Vendee, Dordogne and the majestic Alps.

There are other interesting contrasts between the French camping sites and their UK holiday park counterparts. The surprising thing is that the French sites have a shorter season. Most holiday parks in the UK open at Easter, when the weather can still be cold and unpredictable.

The parks then remain open until half term at the end of October. In comparison the French parks open in mid May and close in September. Partly this is cultural in that the French do not wish to holiday outside that period. Another reason may be that the more unsettled weather in the UK has lead companies to invest heavily in indoor pools and entertainment complexes. This is something that many of the French campsites do not have.

This is not to imply that UK Holiday Parks are superior to their French counterparts. France is a larger country than the UK, with one result being that land can be less expensive. As such, some of the camping sites are built with more space between the caravans. La Pachcaid near St Tropez in the South of France is a fine example of this. The caravans are located in terraces among the pine trees with shrubs used as a boundary. This gives more seclusion and privacy than you would normally find in a similar UK park. The outdoor swimming pool complexes in France, such as La Pachcaid are also very impressive and as good as you will find anywhere in the UK.

In terms of accommodation, the French camping sites are similar to the UK offering a range of caravans, lodges and chalets. However, rentable tents do seem to be more common. Other more unusual accommodation types are tree houses or even Gypsy caravans.

To conclude, French people do have a more positive attitude to camping than their counterparts in the UK. This is reflected in the French camping sites which are well worth exploring and enjoying.

When you're planning that dream holiday to Italy, the key is to research first and not try to do everything at once. There is so much to see while in the country, when it comes to travelling, Italy is best bitten off in small chunks. If you want to visit the countryside, take time to explore it properly by driving around one area and not overextending yourself when travelling. Italy lends itself quite well to a slow-paced ride through small villages and hamlets, stopping here and there as whimsy strikes.

But, if you want to immerse in the art and history and love the hustle and bustle of a large city, you may want to explore the two cultural capitals of Rome and Florence. Here is just a taste of what you can encounter in these two very different, but equally impressive, destinations.

Rome
"All roads lead to Rome," so the saying goes - and it is mostly true. As the capital city, and the largest in Italy, Rome requires some time for a proper exploration when you are travelling. Italy's extensive history is on evident display everywhere here. Since its founding in 753BC, Rome has been inhabited since some 14,000 years ago. The centre of the ancient city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - with the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon and the arches, just to name a few attractions. There are also the markets, the museums and lesser-known sites like the catacombs and the "bone church". Whatever you decide to focus on, be sure to give yourself ample time, as you could spend months in Rome and not truly see it all.

Florence
Often considered as the true heart of the Renaissance era, Florence is well worth an extended stay when you are travelling. Italy has plenty of art and fascinating historical locations, but none have the presence and beauty (and the sheer volume of priceless art) as Florence.

The historic centre of the city was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, and the Duomo, with its stunning artworks, doors and impressive views over the city, is a must-see. Then you must head over to the Ponte Vecchio, to marvel at the many tiny traditional jewellery shops that line the bridge. Spend a few hours in the Boboli Gardens and the Pitti Palace, then take a stroll up the hill to the Piazza Michelangelo, to watch the sunset reflect under the bridges of Florence as they cris-cross the Arno. In terms of art you are spoilt for choice, but don't miss the famous statue of David and the stunning works of Renaissance artwork displayed in the city's many museums.

Nowadays, low cost travel can easily encompass the best things about a touristic destination. This is valid for Turkey as well, one of the Briton's favourite sunny destination. This country is not all about wonderful beaches, nightlife and dining spots though - it is also a place of historical richness. Let's find out now some of the top attractions for the history, culture and ancient ruins.

Hagia Sophia
To be found in Istanbul, the once glorious Christian cathedral is now a museum-mosque of breathtaking grandeur. Built on higher ground, it overlooks the sea and the Bosphorus and that is one of the greatest views Turkey can offer.

Ephesus
Close to Izmir ad Kusadasi resort, Ephesus is one ancient Greek site, once a most vibrant centre of the classical world. There are well-preserved roman and Greek ruins alike, which make it one of the best sites of this kind in the Mediterranean region. Ephesus was also ruled by the Persians. Tourists may walk down its ancient streets, view its old houses, stadiums, temples and so on. The place tends to get crowded.

Cappadocia Underground Cities
An iconic place for the country, Cappadocia is near the Nevsehir resort and hosts about 40 underground cities. Some of these can be visited. They were created by the early Christians, who were so often prosecuted in the 4th century. The structure is astonishing through its complexity and has been a UNESCO site for decades. Not only this, but also the natural landscape is something to behold.

Aspendos Roman Theatre
Specific to ancient Rome, the construction looks almost intact today, although it was erected between 100AD and 199AD. A total of 15,000 people could be seated here. In present times, it serves as setting for a summer festival and is very accessible to Antalya-based visitors.

Assos
The city of Assos on the Turkish coast belong to the ancient Greeks and was home to Aristotle and his philosophy school. St. Paul is also said to had passed through. Situated near Behram, it is now a seaside resort called Behramkale. The Temple of Athena is the most prominent among the Assos monuments and stands on the crest of a volcanic mountain. Much of the ancient city has been preserved.

This only represents a tiny bit of the old wonders Turkey has to offer. The country not only hosts remarkable open-air sites, but also plenty of fascinating museums filled with artifacts and relics.

Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world and predates other European capital such as Rome, London and Paris by hundreds of years. It was made into a municipum by Julius Caesar and saw periods being ruled by the Germanic tribes as well as the Moors. It was taken by the Crusaders in 1147 and has remained the cultural and political centre of Portugal since then.

Museums
As befits such an ancient city, there is a host of museums and galleries to visit in Lisbon. Amongst them is the National Museum of Ancient Art (Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga) which is located in a former palace of the County of Alvor on the Rua das Janelas Verdes. It was founded with the treasures came from the abolition of religious orders in the country in 1833 and amongst its most famous works are the Saint Vincent Panels by Nuno Goncalves, court painter of King Alfonso V.

There are also various works from 16th century painters from the country such as Jorge Afonso, Vasco Fernandes and Francisco de Holanda. From wider European painters are pieces by Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Brueghel the Younger and Albrecht Durer.

The city also has a host of special museums including:
• The National Museum of Costume and Fashion
• The Electricity Museum
• The National Coach Museum, containing the largest collection of royal coaches I the world
• The Museum of Pharmacy
• The National Museum of Natural History and Science

Holidays and Festivals
June 13th is a holiday in honour of the city's saint, Anthony of Lisbon, also known as Saint Anthony of Padua. He was a Portuguese born bohemian who was canonised and made Doctor of the Church after he spent his life preaching to the poor.
Other important festivals revolve around the film industry. These include those celebrating the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, the Lisbon International Documentary Film Festival and the Lisbon Horror Film Festival to name a few.

Parks
One of the largest parks in the city is the Eduardo VII Park, which extends down the main avenue of the city, Avenida de Liberdade, which is itself known for its flowering plants and green spaces. It houses a permanent collection of subtropical and tropical plants in the winter garden. It was renamed in 1903 to commemorate the visit of Edward VII of England, who visited the city.

Sport
Lisbon has plenty to offer sports fans as well. If you love football, the city has two very famous clubs; Benfica who have won their league title 32 times and the European Cup twice and Sporting Clube de Portugal, known as Sporting, who have won 18 league titles.
There are two UEFA category four stadiums; Benfica's Estadio de Luz (Stadium of Light) which has a capacity of over 65,000 and Sporting's Estadio Jose Alvalade which holds over 50,000. International matches are held at the nearby Estadio Nacional in Oeiras, which held the 1967 European Cup Final.

Transport
It is always important to know how to get between these wonderful locations and with Lisbon, this is simple. Their public transport network is very comprehensive and is centred on the Lisbon Metro. Trams were introduced to the city in the 19th century and are still in use around the centre of the city, being adept at managing the steep hills as well as some of the narrow, old streets.

Travelling into the city by plane will see most travellers arrive at Lisbon's Portela Airport, which lies within the city limits. It is a hub for international carriers such as EasyJet, SATA International, Luzair, EuroAtlantic Airways and Portugalia.

Conclusion
Sitting on the Targus River, Lisbon is an ancient city completely involved in modern life. It is a major financial centre with scores of museums, a massive container port with historic green areas and a centre of international trade as well as football. There will be something for every taste in this beautiful city.

Barcelona is a wonderful city to visit and it need not be expensive. There are free gardens, exhibitions and galleries, and discovering the city's ancient quarters, markets, boulevards and churches is completely free - you just need to know where to look. So here are my top ten free things to do in Barcelona.

1. Parc Güell.
Designed by Antoni Gaudí, Barcelona's celebrated architect, the park is just outside the centre, situated on a hill overlooking the city. Designed originally as a residential park, it's a joy to visit and you can easily spend several hours there.
The park includes extraordinary houses, wonderful structures, mosaic designs and fantastic views over Barcelona to the sea. To reach Parc Güell take the metro (green line) or bus, followed by a 10 - 15 minute uphill walk.

2. Las Ramblas.
Las Ramblas is the famous boulevard which runs from the old port to Plaça Catalunya through the centre of the old town, and is lined with café terraces and plane trees.
Mid-way along Las Ramblas you will find Barcelona's opera house - Gran Teatre del Liceu. Directly opposite is Café de l'Opera, the perfect place to stop for a drink, either on the terrace or inside where you can enjoy a typical Catalan atmosphere.
A little further is La Boqueria, a vast, bustling food market with architectural displays of fruit and vegetables. Sample inexpensive meals from the fresh produce at one of the restaurant stalls.

3. Barrio Gótico.
The gothic quarter is the oldest part of Barcelona and its maze of narrow streets are full of ancient buildings, shops, bars and restaurants, which open on to small squares with market stalls selling crafts and foods.
Plaza Real is one of the grandest squares, great for eating al fresco, and is full of bars and clubs at night. Plaza Jaume houses the impressive town council buildings, including the Palacio de la Generalidad.

There are several beautiful churches, most of which are free to enter. Santa María del Pi, one of the best, dominated by its large circular window, is located in Plaça del Pi, and some of the most historic buildings, dating from the 14th century, are in Plaça del Rei.

4. Montjuïc.
Montjuïc is the large hill to the south of Barcelona overlooking the city, and has many gardens, parks, buildings and attractions. To reach Montjuïc the most dramatic way, take the cable car from the old port, or approach from Plaça Espanya between two huge Venetian towers - this is the area of the magic fountains, which perform in the evenings during the summer months.
As well as gardens, there are several museums, an olympic stadium, Montjuïc castle dating from the 17th century and the communications tower.

5. Caixa Forum.
The Caixa Forum is a free art gallery close to Montjuïc with permanent and visiting exhibitions and housed in a beautiful building that includes a café bar and terrace. The permanent exhibition has details of the Caixa Forum building itself, its architect and other contemporary artists of the Art Nouveau style. Reach the Caixa Forum by metro or bus from Plaça Espanya.

6. Old Port and Barceloneta.
From the bottom of Las Ramblas, walk across the wooden footbridge to Mare Magnum, a complex of shops and restaurants looking out onto the World Trade Centre and port. This area houses the aquarium and Imax cinema and you can continue across the port to Barceloneta.
Barceloneta overlooks the old port and is full of fish and seafood restaurants. Step into the narrow streets and you will find restaurants with a cheaper menu. Keep walking and you will arrive at the beach, where you can stroll to Port Olímpic beside the sea.

7. Parc de la Ciutadella.
Parc de la Ciutadella is open from 10am until dusk, it includes the zoo, Museum of Zoology, Parliament buildings, Natural Science Museum, as well as a lake where you can hire a rowing boat. There are picnic areas, a children's cycle park, play areas and bars.
The largest colony of grey herons in Catalonia live in the park, and every year between June and September there is a jazz programme. Jazz starts at 10pm on Wednesdays in July, and Wednesdays and Fridays in August.

8. The Cathedral.
Barcelona's cathedral is an impressive gothic building situated in the old town, and features large bell towers, gothic arches and a beautiful carved wooden choir. Records of a religious building on this site go back as far as 925, but the current building dates from 1298.
The cloister, which always contains 13 geese, is a beautiful part of the cathedral with a garden of orange, magnolia and palm trees. The free hours are: 08.00 - 12.45 & 17.15 - 19.30.

9. Free Entrance Days.
On the first Sunday of every month many museums and art galleries open for free. They include the Picasso Museum; the Museu d'Història de Catalunya; Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya; and the Natural History Museum.

The Maritime Museum has free entrance on the first Saturday of every month after 3pm, as long as that Saturday is not a public holiday. The MACBA (Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona) has free entry for exhibitions on their first day of opening.

10. Passeig de Gràcia
Passeig de Gràcia is a grand boulevard running from Plaça Catalunya to Avinguda Diagonal. It's a wide tree-lined street of beautiful buildings, decorative iron street lamps, shops (it's a designer shopper's paradise) and smart restaurants. Two of Gaudí's most famous buildings adorn Passeig de Gràcia - Casa Milà (La Pedrera) and Casa Batlló.

Palau Robert, at the top of Passeig de Gràcia, is a small gallery which is always free. Behind the palace you can take a rest in its charming shady garden.
